JOHN KOUDSI

John Koudsi is a multi-disciplined entrepreneur and advisor with a proven track record of identifying and executing on unique, high-return, risk mitigating opportunities for his investors.

Under the umbrella of KoBre Companies, John pursues investment opportunities in fragmented markets which exhibit particular inefficiencies. John maintains a cardinal rule in pursuing any given opportunity: He will only invest or raise capital if he believes he holds a competitive advantage in the specific market or segment at hand. That competitive advantage typically involves combining a highly capable and historically successful operator with KoBre’s access to strategic and nimble capital, a broad network of industry talent, and experience aligning interests via the capital structure.

John’s unique access to deal flow paired with his ability to identify lucrative opportunities while mitigating exposure has created a loyal investor base. Because John regards investors as partners — not just sources of funding — and also contributes his own capital alongside theirs, he has earned a high level of trust and confidence from his investors. This provides for continued expansion of KoBre’s companies and overall footprint in the market.

Beginning his career in the Strategic Tax Planning division at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) in 1995, John developed valuable skills in creating effective tax strategies and financial solutions for Forbes 400 organizations and larger privately owned businesses.

In 1997, John moved on to American Express Financial Advisors (now Ameriprise), and devoted 14 years to developing a thriving practice that focused on the creation of tax and wealth management solutions for small and mid-market organizations. John ranked in the top 1% of over 11,000 advisors at Ameriprise, which earned him a seat on the Chairman’s Advisory Council.

In 2007, John co‐founded Trojan Storage with Brett Henry. In this venture, John brought his trademark ability to analyze an industry from a macro level, understand how to capitalize on its inefficiencies, and activate his close-knit network to attract high quality investors. This solid foundation, coupled with the industry leading operational expertise of his business partner, proved to be a recipe for amazing success. Through 2017 and 2018, the pair oversaw a partial sale of the Trojan portfolio which totaled approximately $244 million, generating a gain of approximately $168 million.

In 2010, John created his own Registered Investment Advisory firm, CORE Financial Partners. This new organization gave him the flexibility to bring and/or create lucrative private placement opportunities for his client base. These opportunities included Trojan Storage in addition to other special purpose vehicles that have proven successful.

Today, John is an owner of six different ventures under the KoBre umbrella. Each one leverages his unique access to quality deal flow and proven ability to identify business potential while mitigating risk for his investors. His other companies include:

31TEN Lounge (est. 2010), an upscale Santa Monica nightspot where investors recouped their initial capital, plus profits, within the first year of operations;

Counterpoint Mutual Funds (est. 2014), a mutual fund company that manages more than $450 million in assets; and

Jett Ventures (est. 2018), a venture capital firm that focuses on investments in early-stage companies and capitalizes on John’s access to talented, promising entrepreneurs.

Triple Threat Youth Basketball (est. 2018), a non-profit club basketball program for children. John is passionate about teaching children how to play a mindful game, bringing best-in-class coaching & skill development to his players, all while integrating communities that can truly benefit from one another.

In addition to his business ventures, John donates both his talent and his treasure to many not-for-profit, philanthropic organizations.

John remains actively involved in all his ventures by providing strategic advice, macro fundamental analysis, and his leadership. He lives with his wife Natasha and their three children in Pacific Palisades, California.
